Asheville Brews Cruise and Viewing Party

Ahoy, Asheville Pirates! East Carolina is coming your way. Join fellow Pirates for a multi-brewery bus tour and football game viewing party on Saturday, September 19, hosted by the East Carolina Alumni Association!

From 12:00-3:30, the Brews Cruise bus will tour three different breweries (Pisgah, French Broad, Catawba). The tour will end at Wild Wing Cafe, where the free viewing party will take place. Stay to watch the Pirates sail against Navy! Kick-off for the Navy game is at 3:30 p.m.

Each brewery will provide information on the history of beer, how it is made, and how a modern brewery runs as a successful business, making this a fascinating tour whether you drink beer or not. Samples will be available at each brewery; you are not obligated to drink any samples provided. Those who wish to attend but not drink may purchase designated driver tickets at a reduced cost.

If you drink, it is highly recommended that you arrange transportation or designate a sober driver for the conclusion of the tour.

Don’t forget to wear your purple and gold! Closed-toe shoes are required for the Brews Cruise.

The cost is $55 for alumni association members and $65 for non-members. Designated driver tickets are available at $25 for alumni association members and $35 for non-members. Registration is limited to the first 30 people.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 9, but advance registration is encouraged. Click here for more information or to register.

This event is part of Bring the Whole Crew, our series of family and social events for Pirates and their friends and family members.

Pirate Alumni Legacy Brunch is September 27

legacybrunch3Families with two or more generations of Pirates including a current student are invited to the Pirate Alumni Legacy Brunch on Sunday, September 27 at East Carolina University. Hosted by the East Carolina Alumni Association in partnership with the Office of Parent and Family Programs, this annual event recognizes tradition and loyalty to East Carolina.

Students and their family members will enjoy a catered brunch in the company of fellow Pirates in the Great Rooms of Mendenhall Student Center. Participants will also be given a special pin to use in the pinning ceremony that they can take home to keep. There will also be a family photo area where a professional university photographer will take free family snapshots.

This is an inclusive event; legacies are not limited to parent-child, and may include aunts, uncles, grandparents, step-parents, guardians, etc. Others who did not attend ECU but are in the student’s immediate family may also attend the brunch.

If you wish to attend, you must register by Monday, September 21. Either students or other family members can register their whole party on one form, available online or for printing and mailing/faxing. This is expected to be a popular event, so be sure to register well in advance, as this event may sell out prior to the registration deadline.

Attire is purple and gold business casual. The cost is $12.50 for alumni association members, including student Forever Pirates. For non-members, the cost is $22.50.
