After some mixing and mingling and group introductions, featured alumni Scott Diggs ’89 and Melanie Welsh ’86 shared their experiences and how their East Carolina education prepared them for their career. Then participants were able to ask questions and a lively discussion followed.
Welsh is the president of Envision Mortgage Corporation. She says, “It’s exciting to feel the sense of spirit and pride that a person has as an alumnus of ECU whether they graduated 30 years ago or a year ago.” She says she volunteered to speak at the event because she is carrying on the legacy of service that was instilled in her at ECU.
“I believe this networking lunch was an outstanding event,” said Mark Wells ’14. “Networking events are beneficial to every person that attends. Not only do you meet other outstanding professionals in your community, you are gaining an abundance of knowledge from fellow Pirates. I would definitely recommend the networking events to any Pirate alumni, your network can never be too big. I cannot wait to attend the next event!”
